Storm Takes Sting Out of Troy

November 30, 2018

The 07 Storm took the ice this evening against their divisional foe the Troy Sting, and they also took a strong victory back home with them.

With their dynamic duo (Dylan Callan & Josh Eager) between the pipes, it was clear from the beginning which team wanted the victory.  The Storm got on the board early, when Brennan Bernard and Spencer Orange teamed up to find a wide-open Jordan Davis coming out of the corner, and #5 took it from their beating the Sting goaltender on the short-side to make it 1-0.  Following some intense fore-checking, #14 Zaviero Politowicz picked up a loose puck and found the top-shelf with a whistling-wrister from the top of the circle to make it 2-0.

After the two teams skated evenly for the remainder of the second period, the Storm once again came out hustling in the 3rd.  With determined fore-checking from the line of Couzens, Whited, and Politowicz, #9 Carter Couzens pounced on a loose puck in front of the Troy netminder and found the back of the net putting the Storm up 3.  On the very next shift, Jordan Davis scored his second of the game off a clean face-off win from line-mate Brennan Bernard.

"I thought this was without a doubt our strongest performance of the season thus far.  All of our boys were flying to loose pucks and winning the battles.  Our line of Cook, Larsen, and Stull really set the tone early, getting some quality scoring chances and it was simply contagious.  In addition, I was really impressed with our five defenseman (Hall, Barton, Doud, Hoffman, and Grote).  They were turnover free, and really made some heads-up hockey plays in our own zone."  - Coach Brent Bernard

The dynamic goal-tending duo of Callan/Eager combined for the shutout keeping all 20 shots from getting behind them.  It was a strong performance across the board by the 07 Storm tonight, with #14 Zaviero Politowicz and #77 Jacob Barton earning the customary Storm Hard-worker Hats.

The Storm will enjoy this one tonight, and will be back to work on Saturday and Sunday, as they travel west for two league games against top-ranked Grand Valley and West Kent.  Someone should call ahead and let them know a #stormsacomin.
